In June 2022 Kaisu Koivisto participated in the The Arctic Circle Expedition Residency Program in the Norwegian archipelago Svalbard, in the high arctic, following the glacial shoreline up till 80 degrees northern latitude.
On board the graceful tall ship, Antigua, were 28 artists and researchers. A crew of 10 professionals ensured that the ship sailed well, and all were safe and sound in the arctic surroundings.
The photographs and footage filmed in Svalbard form the foundation of Kaisu Koivisto’s upcoming works.
Koivisto’s residency in Svalbard was generously funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation and Nordic Culture Point.
